Open letter to Grand Rapids Lodge No. 34 Brothers:
To the Worshipful Master of Grand Rapids Lodge no. 34 F&AM.
Worshipful,
The Covid 19 pandemic has developed into an unprecedented challenge to the leadership and
operation of our Lodge. During these trying times, the officers of the Lodge have done their Level best to always act in the best interests of the Lodge as a whole.
The 2020 nomination and election of officers for the 2021 year is offering its own unique
challenges and has been a topic of intense discussion among all of us. I know that all of the Lodge Officers enjoy the confidence and understanding of the majority of the membership to do the right thing for the safety as well as the future of Grand Rapids 34.
That being said, the unfortunate reality is that we cannot conduct nominations and elections during a regular meeting at full capacity while conforming to the current Michigan State Government orders. In light of these orders, any communications we hold will have to be closed with only the officers attending.
I understand that under normal circumstances a Brother may have wanted to be nominated for a chair and it is not my intention to cancel the election. If someone wishes to be nominated we can make arrangements, but I would hope that any other individuals who are considering running for a seat would also consider postponing their run for a different year until we can more realistically hold a proper election.
It is hoped that the Lodge will be satisfied by my nominations for the 2021 line and, if there are no other nominations, a unanimous ballot will be cast in November for the following Brothers who will diligently serve the Lodge in these positions.

I truly believe I have assembled a great team of Brothers for the 2021 Officer Line. These remarkable individuals have committed to serving the Lodge with dedication in uncertain times and have my full confidence.
I would respectfully request that you inform the Lodge of this intention so we can garner a consensus among the Brethren before November.
